Glencoe House, built by Lord Strathcona in 1896, sits majestically overlooking Glencoe, Scotland’s most famous Highland scenery. Glencoe House comprises fourteen generous private suites (from 75-148 sq. metres) and contains two distinctive concepts, The Glencoe House Suites and The Bell Tower Suites, both of which offer elegant but relaxed and sumptuous suites, with the space and privacy to really kick your shoes off and unwind. Regardless of how ambitious or unambitious your plans might be, Glencoe House invites you into the comfort and refuge of your own suite.
For the adventurous, the Glencoe area offers numerous activities such as walking, hiking, fishing, skiing or snowboarding and mountain biking. For those who want to take it easier, visits can be arranged for instance to the Oban Distillery, the National Trust visitor centre or the ‘Harry Potter’ train which travels through Glenfinnan. Alternatively you may retreat to your suite and relish the view of Loch Leven while sitting in front of a roaring fire or star gaze from your private hot tub. There are no shortages of memorable experiences here at Glencoe House.
The Glencoe House Suites are situated in the mansion house where you effectively occupy your own wing of the historic building and enjoy panoramic sea and mountain vistas. One or two-bedroom suites are available all boasting lavish bathrooms and a substantial separate sitting room, which encompasses an array of period features and the luxury of your own open fire, together with the convenience of 21st Century technology. Three of the Glencoe House Suites have private terraces and hot tubs and there is no better place to star gaze at the end of the day.
A distinguishing feature of the Glencoe House Suites is the unique dining experience. A seasonally inspired candle lit five-course dinner is served at your private full-sized dining room table located in your suite. Dress up or dress down – the choice is yours – but you will enjoy an elegant restaurant experience but without fellow diners. Equally, breakfast in The Glencoe House Suites is served at your private dining room table which allows you the luxury of easing yourself into the day sitting in your robe, reading a newspaper of your choice and admire the view. What a way to start the day?
The Bell Tower Suites at Glencoe House, which reside in a characterful building located just 50 metres from the mansion house. The Bell Tower building contains one-bedroom suites where the ground floor comprises a comfortable sitting room with a wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen complete with AGA-oven and a luxurious bathroom with Aveda toiletries. An elegant staircase takes you to the first floor mezzanine that contains a peaceful bedroom with en-suite WC. Each suite also enjoys the luxury of a private walled garden with hot tub and alfresco dining.
Dining in The Bell Tower Suites is extremely flexible, guests have the exclusive option of a seasonal five course menu served in the Great Hall of Glencoe House. This opulent room has intricate plasterwork on the ceiling and is lit by a large crystal chandelier and open fire, makes for a very glamorous setting for a memorable evening. Alternatively, guests can remain in their suite and sample the delights of their pre-stocked kitchen. Choose from the wide range of pre-prepared gourmet meals and simply slip them into the AGA oven and choose their accompanying wine or drinks from our ever-popular maxi bar; effortless indulgent, private dining without being disturbed by fellow guests or waiting staff.
Breakfast within The Bell Tower Suites is secluded and private; you can even dine alfresco in your private walled garden should the weather allow. As standard your kitchen will contain a full range of breakfast options including ingredients for scrambled eggs with Scottish smoked salmon, a full Scottish breakfast or crusty rolls and a selection of cold meats and cheeses for a continental alternative. Breakfast is catered for although guests have to prepare and cook their breakfast which has the advantage of allowing you to stay in your pyjamas and read the complimentary newspaper without being interrupted by waiting staff. Alternatively, if you would prefer the chef to cook one of his breakfast delights for you, just book breakfast in the Great Hall.
