Held on the first Saturday in September every year, The Braemar Gathering is dedicated to the history and preservation of traditional sports here in Scotland.
Located in Braemar, a picturesque village situated in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It is here that the famous Braemar Gathering is hosted, at the Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion.
Every year large crowds gather for Braemar’s cultural and sporting event, which is the most famous and best-attended Highland Games in Scotland. It features grand pipe bands, highland dancers and athletes. Surrounded with the stunning backdrop of the Cairngorms is a spectacle that simply must be experienced. The Gathering has a vast history and dates back to over 900 years. Royal patronage started with Queen Victoria in 1848 and is carried on today with frequent attendance by many of the Royal Family and Her Majesty the Queen (pictured above left).
This year The Highland Games will be hosted on the 7th September 2019
