The following morning, your Lang Atholl representative will be waiting for you as you wake up from your first night’s sleep. Your representative will be your friendly face as you travel along “Scotland’s Route 66” on which The Torridon will be the next destination. Located on the banks of the spectacular Loch Torridon, set in 58 acres of parkland, The Torridon is one of the most magnificent hotels in the country. This resort is one that can offer something for everyone whether it is a relaxing pamper or a reviving outdoor escape. You’ll experience the luxurious dining experience at the AA three rosette rated 1887 restaurant. Following your meal you can then enjoy a digestif in their award winning Whisky and Gin Bar.
You will travel by boat to the impressive sandstone cliffs of seabird breeding colony Handa Island. The Island has over 200,000 seabirds on its towering cliffs plus 250 pairs of puffins breed here. You can occasionally see otters, dolphins, minke whales pilot whales, basking sharks and the orcas. Following the boat trip, you will dine at the seafood restaurant close by where you can enjoy fresh seafood straight from the boat with the views of Handa Island.
The next stay will be in the Inverlodge hotel where you can enjoy the tranquil retreat of the exceptional natural beauty. The stay here not only offers the opportunity to experience the natural environment but also the luxurious facilities and excellent cuisine of one of the best hotels in the Scottish Highlands. The Chez Roux Restaurant provides hearty country cooking which uses all the delightful products from the sea on its doorstep.
You will begin your day by visiting Smoo Cave which is a spectacular sea cave set within the limestone cliffs in Sutherland. It boasts one of the largest entrances to any sea cave in Britain at 50ft high and is floodlit inside. You will also have a chance to explore the area and stop off for a spot of lunch in beautiful Durness.
In the evening you will reside at Forss House Hotel & Restaurant, a gem which you will discover along your journey on the North Coast 500. It is a beautiful 1810 country house hotel which is set in 20 acres of woodland and is the perfect location to take in the fresh air and relax for your next day of exploring Scotland.
Next you will enjoy staying in the Links House Hotel which is a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Award Winner 2018, a National Winner in the Scottish Hotel Awards and also won Best Restaurant Experience at the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards 2017. The Links House has been excellently restored to reflect the strength of its setting, overlooking the 1st tee at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. The head chef creates fresh menus daily, sourced from the finest local suppliers and they have an extensive wine cellar which consists of aged varietals from across the world.
Following the Links House Hotel, you will then travel to the Rocpool Reserve Hotel and Chez Roux Restaurant. The boutique hotel, bar and restaurant offers 5 star luxury in the centre of Inverness. The beautiful house has stunning views over the River Ness and is only a few minutes walk from Inverness Castle and city centre. In the evening, you can experience yet another of Chez Roux’s restaurant experiences which offers Scottish ingredients with a French twist.
The award winning Loch Ness Boat Trip will be next on your trip, providing an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Loch. Whilst on the cruise, you will travel around the Loch, sightseeing the Urquhart Castle with its 1,000 years of history and also try to catch a glimpse of Nessie.
Next, you will travel to Nairn where you will stay in the luxury award winning Boath House. It is widely renowned for its style, quality and fine cuisine. The inviting restaurant offers you fine views over the gardens down to the lake with a glimpse of the wild flower meadow. The House has won itself four AA rosettes since 2006 and is boasts an award winning restaurant.
